DIY LINEN GIFT WRAP TUTORIAL

On June 7th, Adam and I celebrated our fourth anniversary. FOUR! To no surprise, it only took me four years & two kids later to finally get our wedding album printed - because LIFE. We've used Artifact Uprising in the past for printing photos through Instagram, so using them for our wedding album was a legit no brainer. With just the right amount of minimalism, their high quality products are unmatched in the industry and are guaranteed to last.

For our album, I chose their standard hard cover photo book in size 10 x 10 - in my opinion, the perfect size for a display, or for laying on a coffee table. (To avoid any abuse from tiny hands, she'll be sitting pretty on our high built-ins until the girls get old enough for coffee table books to be an actual thing in our home.) If you're looking for a higher investment piece, check out their layflat albums, where the pages literally lay out flat on a table and one photo can seamlessly cover two pages, making a panoramic impact. The organizing and design process was straight forward and super user-friendly, and I loved the variety of different layout options that were available.

BUT THE BEST NEWS OF ALL... I'm giving away a hardcover album of choice to one of my readers! Be sure to enter the giveaway at the bottom of this post. You may also use code AK10 to receive 10% off your next order, good through 7/26.

If you follow the American anniversary gift tradition, the four year gift should include linen or silk. Goodbye paper wrapping, hello linen wrapping! On our wedding day we included a sentimental prayer in our vows, so I knew it would be perfect to hand letter on the fabric, bringing back oh so sweet memories.

STEP ONE //

Cut your fabric as you would paper, to appropriate size of the gift you will be wrapping.

STEP TWO //

Lay your fabric overtop of paper bags to prevent any bleeding. Use the fabric marker to draw out your design. Whether it is a special quote, note, or saying, hand letter your tender heart out on the fabric. Patience is key when working with a fabric medium, as the marker can snag if you work too fast.

STEP THREE //

Iron the final design after completely dry. Depending on how you use the gift wrap later, you may want to fray check the edges to prevent fraying. I left my edges raw for a more organic look.

STEP FOUR //

Flip the fabric over so the lettering is on the reverse side and place gift in the center of the fabric. Wrap as you would with regular wrapping paper, and fold down all four sides. Secure with ribbon or twine. I used a jute material and wrapped it around a couple of times, then added ties of silk and a touch of eucalyptus.
