How quick the first year of motherhood flew in the blink of an eye. We wrapped up our first year with Faire by celebrating with our closest friends and family for a "love you more than all the stars" themed party at our home. Despite the three degree heat advisory that we were under, the day couldn't have been more special.
A huge thank you to Kaytee Lauren, who always captures our special milestones so perfectly.
I designed the invitations through Sugar Paper x Paperless Post. The design was simple with foil-stamped stars. I typically like to purchase envelopes separately through Paper Source, because they offer so many paper color and texture options and extras can easily be purchased last minute. The constellation postage from Minted was the perfect final touch. All of the hand lettering for the envelopes and party signage was done by me.
We worked with a local cake shop, Sweet Fix, for all the dessert options. The mini cake was custom designed for Faire - a funfetti naked cake with buttercream frosting and light silver star sprinkles. Total perfection! Sweet Fix is known for their macarons, so we went with three of their most popular flavors - birthday cake, honey lavender, and fruity pebbles!
My mom helped out with making the Hawaiian ham and swiss sliders and caprese skewers, both fabulous options for a late afternoon party where we didn't feel pressured to provide a full lunch menu. Goldfish crackers and organic honey grahams were offered for our tiny guests. For beverages, we had dispensers full of lemonade and white peach sangria. We also provided a cooler with a variety of craft beers.
We are huge fans of the modern, square photos from Artifact Uprising and how easy they make it to print straight from Instagram. We printed a bunch of extra photos for the party last minute by using the Kodak printing service from Target, since they also have a square print option. Washi tape was used to stick the photos to our dining room wall.
We kept the living room mantle simple with decor, by hanging a few photos on the moon garland by The Great Lakes Goods. Our Letterfolk board was updated for the occasion and we pulled in our personalized blocks by Little Sapling Toys.
The cake smash was definitely the most enjoyable and entertaining part of the party. And it should be noted, the cake smash couldn't have been further from an actual "smash." Faire was so dainty and determined while eating her way through the layers of cake, making sure not to waste a single crumb.
